 7.62x54r Improved - Load data 1

Stock 91/30 with shot out .314 barrel

Vit-140, Lapua brass 54r improved 2nd time firing, with Hornady 150gr bullet,  3 shot avg:
44gn = 2422 fps (to light of load, brass getting blow back)
45gn = 2470 fps (to light of load, brass getting blow back)

So by the looks of it, PPU brass is not the best for the improved 54r then?

ppu is good brass.
The ppu was getting fireformed using factory rounds. Generally you want to use inert filler.
All the other brass (the lapua) were already fire formed.

Sorry, was in a hurry. Yes, PPU is very good brass imo.  Dont let the few cracked necks fool you. Im doing something with them (straight from the factory) that they were never intended to do. So really im ok with a 30% loss on those. I could just as easily fire them out of a stock mosin, anneal, then fire form and get probably 99%.  Now Winchester brass on the other hand..... Evil or Very Mad

I've using PPU brass at the moment, for subsonic loads, they work fine, so I know PPU brass is pretty good.
