[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] From Iowaaaah! Don't know which is worse here or there. cyclops

Accuracy in a Mosin? Simple, sandbags or a shooting stand. Point it where you want the bullit to go and pull the trigger. At least that's how I do mine. But that's only out to about 100 yards. That's as far as I can shoot around here. Sad

I'm the wrong guy to ask for advice on this topic but there's plenty of guys here who can help you with that. And answer any other questions you've got.

For whatever it's worth, if your bore is good and you do all the usual stuff (shim the action, float the barrel with a single contact point near the front of the fore end and a single contact point for the hand guard near the chamber swell), install a good scope on a good rigid mount, find the right load, and learn to shoot properly (a weekend at Appleseed is a good start), a Mosin is capable of hitting targets the size of a bison at 600-800 yards -- or keeping the rounds on a playing card at 100. That's accurate enough for anything I'm ever likely to do with a rifle...

I do not have a micrometer so I'm not sure what the bore diameter is, but the rifling is very good. I do reload, but I have a couple of spam cans of silver tip that shoot well out of it. I figure I'll use those to get it zeroed when I shoot it after making some mods to it. Once I get it the way I want it I'll probably look at reloading for it to get the best round for the gun. That may be while though.

I have decided to get the bolt handle turned, put on a new wood sporter stock, pillars, timney rigger, scope mount and scope. It seems to shoot well at 100 yards in bone stock condition so I should be able to get close to 1 MOA with the mods.
